Davante Adams - You Are A New York Jet

In a saga that felt like it would never end, the Las Vegas Raiders have finally reached an agreement with the New York Jets for WR Davante Adams.

Despite losing a close matchup to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football and falling to a 2-4 record, the New York Jets will be handed a major boost when a new face walks into the facility this week. The Jets have been one of the hot favourites to land Davante Adams ever since he expressed his desire to leave the Raiders earlier this season. However, Davante's frustrations and desires to leave 'Sin City' are not a new development.

Adams had previously expressed a desire to play with a QB whom he had previously played with and that left very limited options for the Raiders in terms of trade partners. The New Orleans Saints were a potential landing spot due to only 2 QBs in the league having a previous relationship with him. This didn't stop teams from enquiring, though, with Adam Schefter recently saying that a few teams had enquired and were monitoring the situation. However, it's Rodgers' former Green Bay QB he'll be reuniting with.

The Jets will welcome this boost on offense. After firing HC Robert Saleh a week ago, a lot has been spoken of when it comes to their disappointing offense. Their offense has the talent with the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Tyler Conklin so the addition of a familiar face for the QB they sold their soul for may be the roll of the dice they needed to take in order to make things really click. A 3x First Team All-Pro and 6x Pro Bowl receiver. There are very few WR rooms that would not be boosted by that kind of addition.

Davante's season so far has seen him play in 3 games and racked up an offensive grade of 64.4 on PFF. With 18 catches on 27 targets for 209 yards and 1 touchdown, it's nowhere near the level we've come to expect from the receiver. He'll be looking to return to that 2018-2022 form where he was receiving those Pro Bowls & All-Pro's and given that 4/5 of those season were spent with his 'new' QB in New York, he'll be hoping that's the case.

The trade package in question: the New York Jets will give the Raiders a conditional 3rd round pick that will turn into a 2nd round pick should Adams meet the criteria of either a) becoming an All-Pro this season OR b) start either the AFCCG or Super Bowl for the New York Jets. While Adams may have not been at his heights the last couple of seasons, you'll be forgiven for thinking the package is still a little low for such a premium talent but the Jets are also taking on the entirety of Adams' contract. Per ESPN "The Jets are assuming the balance of Adams' remaining salary, a source told Schefter. Adams' salary for this season is $17.5 million, with approximately $13.5 million still owed through the end of the season. And while he is under contract for 2025 and 2026, his annual salary jumps to $36.25 million for each of those seasons." This definitely helps.
